Rum enhanced "Candied"-Apple and Pear sauce Totally unlike the normal store-bought brands of applesauce. This chunky version has strong pear flavors to the apple, and the complexity is further enhanced with cinnamon "red hot" candies and a splash of rum! Delishious year 'round! |

Vargr's Pressure Cooker Pot Roast with Veggies A first try at another new dish with the Pressure Cooker. The flavor of this was tremendous, and the meat amazingly tender and juicy. Definitely a success, and quick, easy, and full of flavor. |

Vargr's spicy Sausage, Red beans, and Rice - Pressure Cooker version First "trial run" of the new pressure cooker. This turned out to be immensely flavorful, with a moderate heat. Not enough to raise a sweat, but puts a bit of a burn on the tongue. And the beans were soft and tender. Delightful! |

(What a) Jerk Smoked Pork Loin Powerful flavors, lots of heat, but not overwhelming. But easily "kicked up" if you want even more heat. Takes a bit of time to prep, but very worth it. |

Vargr's Rich and Decadent Escalloped Potatoes This dish as a very thick, rich, and decadent creamy sauce over the potatoes. A variety of spices give it a complex savory flavor. It got great compliments at the LAN BBQ gathering. |

Thai Peanut Smoked/Grilled Chicken Experiment in progress for the 2XP LAN Party/BBQ. This is a marinade we used on some of the chicken. It has a wonderful flavor on it's own, and would be a great sauce to pan-fry chicken in on the stove. |

Spinach and Strawberry Salad A very light, refreshing, Summer-time salad with some interesting fruity flavors. Lots of options also make this a very flexible recipe to adjust flavors and keep it "new" and different, if you wish. |

Boston-style baked beans from scratch Sweet, molasus style beans from scratch. Takes a while to make, but worth it. You can speed the process by using canned white beans instead of dried if you're in a hurry. |

Sesame Smoked Chicken Somewhat Experimental. I've done similar recipes, but never quite with this mix. Should be a good sweet, nutty "Asian" flavor to these wings and drumsticks |

"Traditional" sweet "KC" style BBQ Chicken A more traditional, saucy, sticks on your fingers style BBQ Chicken. Still easy to make, but a few more steps than the Savory Italian one, and you get to mix your own spice rub for it. Also uses an over-night brine to add flavor and juiciness. |

Vargr's Roasted Potato Soup Rich, hearty, and more of a "chilly rainy day" or Winter soup. Definitely a meal in a bowl! Roasting the potatoes before adding them to the pot gives a nice touch. |

Smoked Chicken Salad - 3 ways! Two different "wraps" (Thai peanut and SouthWest flavored), and a light and sweet curried sauce with seedless grapes and Jicama. Wondertul as appeitizers, pot luck treats, and the Curried Grape & Chicken is especially nice for a Summer BBQ. |
