So this is a recipe I got off the net at the advice of ShadowCat-X...  and it turned out great!

Ingredients:

6 ears of corn (or however many will fit in the water)
1 gallon water, room temp.
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup salt

1)  Mix Sugar and Salt into the room temperature water.

2)  Peel back husks on corn, remove silk, cut out bad area's with a sharp knife, cover corn with husks again.

3)  Soak corn in water/sugar/salt mixture for 3 hours (I put a bowl on them to keep them under the surface)

4)  Let Drain into Collander for a few minutes to get rid of extra moisture.

5)  Place on medium grill with lid down for 10 minutes.

6)  Turn corn over and continue grilling for another 10 minutes, lid down.

7)  Serve Corn by peeling back husk for use as a handle.

This sounds GREAT. Author's Dad used to grill corn somewhat like this - kept the husks on and soaked them before hand in water.  But he never seasoned the water.

The soaked husks steamed the corn as they heated, and the grill charred the husks for that little extra kick of flavor.

Adding the salt and sugar seems a sound idea, from a 'kitchen science' point of view. Can't wait to give it a try!

AND - for those who hate having to pick all those little strands of silk off the fresh corn, here's a trick that ought to work wonders for this sort of preparation:

Leave the silk and husks intact before grilling. Just plunge the entire ear into the brine.

Grill as Booj described.

Wearing Gloves (!HOT!), cut off the stem end of the corn, about 1/2 Inch up from the base, making sure to cut all the way through all the husks.

Wearing Gloves (!HOT!), grab the top of the husks and tassel and shake until the corn cob emerges from the cut end. It may even slide all the way out on it's own. If not, encourage it with a tug.

The corn on the cob is clean as a whistle, no silks left!

Here's a vid that shows the technique. Though this version is cooked in the microwave, the method of heating shouldn't matter.

Of course, if you do it this way you don't have a handle to hang onto... but thats one way to get the silk off the cob, it looks like!
